No active lesions! YEAH for parasites?!!!

So once again it has been a long time since my last post. I had shared that I was in a trial and taking a pig whipworm every 2 weeks. I prayed and contemplated if I should join this study and everything pointed me to it.

I was on it for 10 months which was completed in October. As part of the study I was in an observation period where I took no treatment Nov. Dec. January. I had an MRI at the end of January so they could compare it to my previous MRIs from before and during treatment.

The study was blinded. I asked the doctor if I could be told what the last MRI showed. I was willing to start the shots. If they would have said no I would have contacted my regular Neurologist and asked to have an MRI done.

Well they got approval to share the results with me....NO ACTIVE LESIONS!

I am beside my self. Thank God. When I first started I was worried what if I am wasting my time and it does not work, I will just regret not starting the shots. But nope I am as happy as a bug in a rug..or should I say a parasite in a rug!

Thanks for sharing the results..i'm interested..also from WI and also very proud of the UW. it would be interesting to me also, i don't much like putting meds into my body + i told my mom she was too clean that's why i got this ms, wouldn't have got it if she just let the dust bunnies grow for a while.

        Thanks!

0485c10 UW of Madison is amazing. I am lucky I live in WI.

Dr. Fleming who heads the study is fantastic and Namita who organizes it is a wonderful lady.

Whatever you decide to do I wish you luck.

I do not hide the fact that I took parasites nor do I hide the fact that I have MS. I was on the Madison news about it last year so that pretty much announced it to everyone. Co workers I did not know were asking me questions about the study. I was good with that. That is why I did it. So if you have any questions about what it was like from the MSers point of view, let me know.

          Interested

I've been interested in this "treatment" for a while but unless you are in a controlled study it is not possible to order sterile pig worms! The FDA Shut down the one person who was selling them in the US. Do you know if this study is being run anywhere else?

I'm so happy you had good results.

            Thanks Cougarmama.

I am not aware of any other studies in the US for this currently. BUT I do think Dr. Fleming at the UW of Madison did mention the next phase of the study would be open to more patients at other research facilities. But don't quote me on that.

Jasper Lawrence sold hookworm and human whip worm. His clinic did move to Mexico. You go to San Diego the people from the clinic meet you there and take you to the clinic, you take the treatment and come back home. I came across that somewhere on the net. Unlike the pig whip worm these are human parasite so they will live in your body. I think the human whip worm is 1 year.
