Jodi Nicholson, aka 4giraffes2 She told him he could stay, that she’d tend his needs as best she could.
The first year is wonderful. She embraces the temperamental, learns that all is different now.

Mostly, he lurks silently in the background, hanging ambiently, passively/aggressively. Totally foreign to the inexperienced young woman, his needs are beyond her ken.
But. Nothing is impossible for her. She could and would figure this out.
Tenacious by nature, she embarks on an all encompassing quest to learn everything she could about his needs: what they were, how to best service them.
She surrounds herself with information, eager to better understand what is expected of her.

She's starting to 'get' that she's a POW. (Prisoner Of [the] War raging inside her body/brain.) Being held hostage by a beast no one can see that she has less than no control over.
Many doubt the captor; even doubt that she's disappearing before their eyes.
'She's smart, a survivor, she'll deal' they say.
